Effective November 12, 2024, the Board of Directors for the REALTORS® Association (RAE) has appointed Larry Westergard as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Larry is an experienced and respected leader in real estate and association management, and the Board of Directors is confident in his ability provide the Association with effective leadership through a period of transition. Larry’s appointment reflects the Board of Director’s commitment to maintaining continuity and upholding our mission and vision.

The RAE Board of Directors is committed to ensuring the Association’s operations and support services remain uninterrupted. Larry’s appointment as Interim CEO will allow him to guide the Association effectively, uphold the RAE’s mission, and support both members and staff. The Association’s core values of integrity, professionalism, and member service will continue to guide all organizational decisions.

About Larry Westergard

Larry has built a distinguished career in real estate, beginning as an agent in north Edmonton in 1996 before progressing to management and ownership roles within the industry. After more than a decade with RE/MAX Edmonton, Larry transitioned from active sales in 2016 to become Executive Officer for the Central Alberta REALTORS® Association (CARA), a role he held until May 2024. Before accepting the Interim CEO position, Larry served as a director on the management team for the Alberta Real Estate Association, bringing strategic insight and operational leadership to the position.

Larry’s contributions to the real estate industry extend to significant advisory roles on local, provincial, and national committees. He is a former director with the Alberta Real Estate Association, a Past President of the RAE, and more recently, Chair of the Association Executive Committee for the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). He has served on several advisory committees at RECA, AREA, CREA and with NAR, offering guidance on industry standards, governance, and professional development, enriching his understanding of association leadership and member service.

An alumnus of the University of Alberta, Larry holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, and he has continued to pursue professional development throughout his career. His qualifications include the Canadian REALTOR® Association Executive (CRAE) designation, the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) certification, and the Real Estate Sector Governance designation. This combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge positions Larry to provide strong interim leadership for RAE.
