We’d like to extend a special thank you to our Communications Committee members who spent countless hours on the project, working to revitalize and modernize these plaques.

Project Background
In 2004, the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton (formerly Edmonton Real Estate Board – EREB) commissioned a series of plaques commemorating important milestones in Edmonton’s history tied to the economic development and growth of the real estate industry in the region. The series included a total of nine glass panels mounted under a glass and steel shelter located in Edmonton’s Churchill Square. This was part of a 2004 project undertaken by the City of Edmonton to revitalize and redesign the square and commemorate its formative history.
The project was titled ‘REALTORS® Row’ and focused on key eras of Edmonton’s history as it related to the economy and how organized real estate came to be. The timeframe covered spans from the late 1800s to the early 2000s, with details on the following:
In June of 2022, the RAE Communications team received a message from the City of Edmonton and TransEd LRT project team that unfortunately, the plaques had been damaged during construction. While it was disappointing to have lost these historical pieces, it presented an opportunity to update and refresh the messaging and imagery.
